Dog Days of Summer
My dogs will not stay outside. I ask, "Who wants to go outside and go potty??!?!"
They all run to the back door.
They go potty and then make sure that no cats have invaded their territory and
then are right back at the back door, ready to come in.
They pant for minutes after coming back inside and then nap again.
All are getting chubby. I bought diet food for them. They hated it and refused to
eat it, heheheheh, so they did lose weight as I gave them no alternative,
pobrecitas.
But, for some reason Baby has to be sleeping ON my foot this past month and
Mosinha has to be three feet away from me. Autumn who used to live in her cave
now lives outside it, about ten to fifteen feet away from me now?!?!?!?!?
It is humid so the swamp cooler is useless and it is about 94 inside here. We
move less, wear less and I use wash cloths kept in the refrigerator all day to wipe
myself off periodically. Lovely moments, those. I put the fan on the dogs and
spray them with the hose outside sometimes.
Everyone is panting now as I said that my daughter was about to arrive and they
got hyped. Went to look out the window and check and see, tail wagging and it
overheated them, poor babies. Now everyone is waiting prone on the cooler floor
tiles.............
37. Too Sick - Sept. 16, 2010
I have gotten a cold that I cannot shake and a cough with it that turns me inside
out. Fever chills and all that. Sigh. I lay around in my recliner chair so that I can
breathe, cannot lay flat.
The dogs are in circles around my chair sleeping, worried, afraid to leave me for
long.
I swig cough medicine and still get up to work when I can. They get up when I do
and we all go outside for awhile, but I can only sit and watch them. They often
just sit next to me now, worried. I have really lost my steam.
When I am asleep and it is time for them to go out the doggie door, Baby comes
over and lifts up my hand with her nose, throwing my hand up in the air. She
wakes me up to feed them and sometimes, if I am ignoring the telephone, she
gets impatient and wakes me to answer it.
When Baby is really worried, she puts her toy on my lap as I sleep. Mosinha
jumps up onto the chair and tried to find room near my feet. Autumn sleeps
directly under the upraised foot rest. Such good dogs.
I am so sorry that they live with a sick old lady instead of with a young person
who would kick the soccer ball, hit the tether ball, refill the pool constantly, throw
small balls and buy more toys all the time.
I am a minimalist owner at this point and ask the grandchildren to come and play
with them all. We will all walk in the Tucson 4th Avenue All Soul's Procession on
Nov. the 9th. I hope that more family walk with me this year, it was so much fun
last year with just two of them !!! Baby would love it, but I could not hold her
leash the whole way and walk, too.
Asi es la vida de las viejitas.
I didn't blog anymore after this and was diagnosed with pneumonia in the hospital on Dec. 8th, 2010, which was later found to also be cancer.
